Invasive diagnostics and therapy
In the field of invasive diagnostics and therapy, Herz-und Gefäßmedizin Esplanade offers a comprehensive range of modern procedures for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. These include both outpatient and inpatient cardiac catheterizations, which allow for precise diagnostics of the coronary arteries. In cases where narrowing is detected, balloon angioplasty followed by stent implantation is used to permanently improve blood flow. This procedure is not only applied to the coronary arteries but also to stenoses of the carotid arteries, renal arteries, abdominal aorta, and the arteries of the arms, pelvis, and legs.
Another focus lies in the implantation of modern pacemakers that reliably stabilize the heart rhythm in cases of bradycardic arrhythmias. In more complex arrhythmias or with an increased risk of life-threatening arrhythmias, the implantation of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) may be necessary. Cardiac resynchronization therapy, in which specialized systems are used to coordinate heart activity, is also part of our service portfolio.
Furthermore, we perform minimally invasive closure procedures for defects of the atrial or ventricular septum. For certain types of atrial fibrillation, an interventional closure of the left atrial appendage may be advisable to reduce the risk of stroke. Our services are complemented by interventional procedures on the heart valves, which represent a gentle alternative to traditional heart surgery, especially for patients at high surgical risk. All our procedures are based on the latest scientific findings and are carried out by our experienced medical team.
